Solicitors have raised almost £4,000 for charity by waiving their fees for writing wills.

Will Aid is a scheme that runs every November in which legal firms invite clients making a will to donate to charity instead of paying their normal fee.

Lawyers at Clinton David Pallis, based in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey raised £2,530, while the Petrou Law Partnership, based in Grand Parade, Green Lanes collected £1,415.

The project was set up to encourage people to ensure they make wills, while helping people in the UK and around the world build their communities and improve their future prospects.

The money will be shared between the nine Will Aid charities ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF and Trocaire.

Shirley Marsland, Will Aid campaign Manager, says:

“Will Aid has made such a real and positive difference to those in need of a hand up over the years.

“This would not have been achieved without the hard work of our enthusiastic solicitors and the generosity of the clients they have helped to make a Will. I would like to thank all the solicitors and will-makers in this area who took part and donated so much.

“I am constantly amazed by the support that solicitors give to the scheme and the work that they put into it to raise such an impressive amount. The participating charities are really grateful for the life- changing work this makes possible.”
