A group of schoolchildren built and tested their very own racing car.

Year 9 pupils at Greig City Academy in High Road, Hornsey, have built their very own electric race car which will compete on a full-size Formula E track in June.

The FIA’s Formula E Schools Series takes place in cities across the world and is designed to promote sustainable engineering and technology amongst young people.

Teacher Mr Knappert applied for, and secured, the kit used to build the car from the FIA and the students have been testing it during the spring term.

Year 9 pupil Aisha said: “It has been wonderful, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Not many schools can offer you something like this.”
