Staff at two builder’s merchants have done their bit for a 5,500 mile cycle relay.

Employees from Screwfix branches in Wood Green and Tottenham participated in the Tour de Screwfix cycle relay in a bid to help raise £100,000 for charity.

The money goes to The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need in the UK.

Screwfix staff at each of its stores nationwide are riding a leg over an eight week period in an attempt to raise the cash.

Faith Jeffery and Chris Burns from the Wood Green store covered the 2.4 miles of the Wood Green to Tottenham leg and Chris was then joined by Fabio Pozzi from the Tottenham branch and they both continued a further 3.7 miles to the Walthamstow store.

Fabio said: “I enjoyed the challenge of 'Tour De Screwfix' especially with it being for such a worthwhile cause. It will be fantastic to see the final amount raised.”

The Screwfix Foundation is now calling for charities in and around Wood Green and Tottenham to apply for a share of the funds raised.
