More than 400 pupils from nine primary schools have taken part in a wide range of sports as part of a games festival.

Children from schools across Tottenham came together over the weekend to try out new sports for the first time and meet coaches from local clubs at an event supported by Haringey Borough Council.

The SportInspired Games Festival at Tottenham Green Pools & Fitness was part of the council’s regeneration programme and pledge to help create a healthier Haringey.

Having tried out every sport on offer, children were helped by mentors to decide which activity they would like to take up to help learn new skills, make friends and get active.

Councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for regeneration and housing, said: “It was brilliant to see so many pupils with smiling faces trying out something new for the first time, backed by the enthusiasm of volunteers and coaches from Haringey’s great local sports clubs.
