Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of an international defender.

Central defender Kevin Wimmer will be joining the club from 1. FC Koln for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Austrian moved to Germany in 2012 from LASK Linz and became a regular in 1. FC Koln’s team as they gained promotion to the Bundesliga.

He was a standout performer for Die Geißböcke in their first season back in the top flight of German football.

Wimmer has made 72 appearances in total for the German side scoring twice and has also been capped by his country at international level.
