A group of 16 cyclists, half of whom were complete novices beforehand, have completed a gruelling two day 150 mile trip for a school.

The group pedalled their way from Yeovil to St Gilda’s School in Oakington Way, Crouch End, to raise money for new playground facility at the school.

The sisters of St Gilda’s founded the school in 1915 as well as another school in Yeovil at around the same time.

A breathless Sara Parmesan, teacher at St Gilda’s, said: “It was the most amazing experience.

“A great team effort. I never ever thought I'd be able to complete such a distance but the team members kept us all positive and up for the challenge".

The group have almost reached their £25k total and are hoping to cross the fundraising finish line in the next few days.
