Police have issued pictures of a man wanted in connection with an acid attack on a train in which two people were injured.

British Transport Police are appealing for information after a member of the public and a London Overground operative had a liquid thrown over them on a train at South Tottenham station shortly before 8pm last Wednesday.

Members of the public tried to help the pair by pouring water on them before the London Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) arrived.

Researcher Rosie Busiakiewicz, whose sister was on board the train, Tweeted about the incident saying: “Guy & girl had acid chucked on their face on @LDNOverground at South Tottenham - whole carriage (including my sis) pouring water over them!"

Officers have now released stills from CCTV of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.

PC Ian Hockridge, leading the investigation, said: “This was a terrifying and unprovoked attack which left both victims understandably very concerned for their safety.

“We have isolated some CCTV stills of a man we believe will have information which can help the investigation and we are now calling on members of the public to help us identify him.

“We believe he boarded the train at Woodgrange Park station and left the train at South Tottenham on a silver mountain bike."

Enquiries to establish the substance, thrown from a bottle, are ongoing.
