An MP says he hopes Tottenham Hotspur remain in London during the rebuilding of their stadium.
Tottenham MP David Lammy has said he will do "all he can" to ensure the Lilywhites remain in the capital.
The club will have to leave White Hart Lane in High Road, Tottenham, for at least one season while a new stadium is built on the site, with a number of possible locations being considered including Stadium MK in Milton Keynes and Wembley.
During a Twitter Q&A Mr Lammy was asked by @Katspur71 “Do you agree it is essential to keep Tottenham Hotspur in London during any period away from White Hart Lane?”
He said in response: “I’ll do all I can to make it happen but the FA and other clubs must do more to help the club find somewhere to play.”
A recent survey by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust found that there was overwhelming support among fans for a move to the national stadium at Wembley rather than Milton Keynes.
Tottenham Hotspur FC has begun the process of consulting supporters about their matchday experience as they begin to explore options for a temporary home during the stadium build.
