Haringey council is to meet with Wireless Festival organisers after violent scenes over the weekend.

Hundreds of people smashed through gates and stormed into the festival on more than one occasion and there were violent skirmishes as others attempted to get in without a ticket.

As a result of the disorder the council are to meet with organisers LiveNation to discuss safety measures for any future events.

A Haringey council spokesman said: “It was completely unacceptable for a small minority of people to cause disruption outside Wireless Festival.

“These scenes were not representative of the whole festival which was well organised and saw tens of thousands of people enjoy themselves safely over three days.

“We will be meeting with the organisers to review their security measures.”

Wireless organisers said that incidents had been "dealt with quickly... on an otherwise hugely successful Wireless weekend".

Organisers also told the BBC they take security very seriously and "work closely with ShowSec, local police and other agencies... to ensure the event maintains an enjoyable and secure environment for all its customers".
