TEENAGERS from Haringey got a taste of the business world at a Dragon’s Den inspired challenge.
The 15 to 17-year-old’s took part in ‘The Challenge’, run by National Citizen Services (NCS) during the summer break.
Five teams from Haringey pitched their business ideas to dragons at Jackson Lane Theatre, Highgate.
Their ideas ranged from running a social experiment based on homelessness to arranging an event to encourage more people to recycle.
The dragons included Jim Shepley, director of Shed, Shawn Goodchild, youth engagement officer at Tottenham Police Station, and marketing manager at The Mall, Wood Green, Isaiah Fapuro.
After each presentation, the dragons were able to ask questions of the teams, who were each asking for funding for their social enterprise projects.
Isaiah Fapuro, said: “It was a privilege to have been asked to take part again in this fantastic project. All of the teams have worked very hard on their innovative and inspirational ideas. Overall, as a panel, we were all impressed with their ability to come up with their concepts.
The overall winners, Team Edwards, were awarded £50 to potentially give them a chance to develop their recycling game into a tool for schools in Haringey.
