The Muswell Hill home of murdered ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko does not pose a health risk to neighbours, a survey on the property has found.
There were fears that the house, in Osier Crescent, was a hazard to neighbouring homes due to traces of polonium 210 - the radioactive substance that poisoned Mr Litvinenko in November last year. A £15,000 survey conducted by Haringey Council has now been completed.
Councillor Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for enforcement and safer communities, said: "The survey confirms the former conclusions of the Health Protection Agency that only very low levels of contamination are present in the house.
"The findings also confirm that there is no risk to neighbours or anybody who does not enter the premises. The report states that limited remediation is required to the property. I hope this information will reassure neighbours and all who had concerns."
The house will remain closed until further notice.
