Haringey children think Stroud Green and Highgate libraries are friendly places that they want to visit, according to an independent survey of its users.

Respondents to the three-yearly Children's Plus survey also awarded Hornsey, Coombes Croft and Alexandra Park libraries top marks for the quality of books on offer.

In addition, 96.4 per cent said their library was a safe place, 93 per cent said their library was easy to get to and 90 per cent agreed it was a place with many things to keep them interested.

The survey, conducted by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, targeted library users under the age of 16. In Haringey 2,239 questionnaires were completed from across the nine libraries.

Councillor Lorna Reith, Haringey deputy leader said: "This is a good result which shows that our libraries are working hard to provide the sort of services that young people want. Libraries are vitally important for young people, from toddlers to teenagers, and we are determined to keep improving so that all youngsters across the borough can benefit."
