Traffic lights failed in six Haringey streets but no accidents reported

POLICE have reported no problems in Haringey as a result of today's power cut.

Traffic lights were out on Muswell Hill, Turnpike Lane, Green Lanes, Archway Road, Alexandra Park Road and Shepherd's Hill but no accidents were reported.

Three burglar alarms went off in Wood Green, but they were tripped by the power cut, and according to current reports, nothing was stolen.

Although shops, offices, cafes and public buildings were evacuated when power went down today just after 2pm, important buildings such as hospitals were able to switch to back-up generators.

At least 14 postcode areas were affected by the power failure in Haringey, Enfield and Barnet.
