MONTHLY meetings to discuss gang-related activity in Haringey kick off tonight.
The Haringey Black Independent Advisory Group, set up to act as mediators between the police and the community, has organised the monthly surgeries following feedback from residents.
Victims of gang violence, concerned residents and even gang members themselves are invited in the hope of addressing problems.
Members of Haringey Council are expected to attend to hear the community's voice first hand, organisers said.
The first surgery happens tonight at 10 Bruce Grove, in Tottenham, between 6pm and 9pm.
Future meetings will be at different locations in the borough.
The advisory group, made up of up to 12 black men from different professional and social backgrounds, deals with issues such as the use of police stop-and-search powers.
