Corrupt PC, from Hornsey, jailed for tipping off crooks

A CORRUPT female police officer who tipped off crooks using confidential information from police databases was jailed for seven months last Friday.

Hornsey resident Keiley Patton, a former PC in Brent, abused her position of trust to help a number of convicted criminals between January 2007 and June 2008 when she was arrested, Southwark Crown Court heard last week.

The 27-year-old also used her position to carry out unauthorised checks on confidential police computer systems on behalf of her boyfriend Soloman Henry, members of his family and seven others.

The shamed PC also admitted helping Henry to get hold of class C drugs and fraudulently applied for car insurance on his behalf.

But Ms Patton was caught following an investigation by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS), when suspicions were raised about her conduct.

Patton, who resigned before she went to trial, admitted misconduct in a public office.

Henry pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting misconduct in a public office.

Patton was jailed for seven months and Henry received a 16-week suspended sentence for two years. He was also ordered to do 120 hours community service.

Detective Inspector Des McHugh, of the DPS, said: "The guilty pleas given previously reflect the effective and thorough manner of our proactive investigation.

"The successful case illustrates the on-going commitment of the Met to ensure any officers who are corrupt or do not meet the standards expected are dealt with.

"Fortunately such officers are few and the majority of officers and staff act with professionalism and integrity."
