Man airlifted to hospital after knife ambush in Mount Pleasant Road, Tottenham

A MAN has suffered serious injuries after being stabbed during a daylight ambush in Tottenham yesterday.

The 20-year-old was found by paramedics slumped and bleeding in the back seat of a car in The Avenue after being attacked with a knife and beaten up by a group of men.

Police were called at 5.15pm following reports of the violence which broke out in nearby Mount Pleasant Road.

The victim had suffered stab wounds to his head and torso and officers instantly performed first aid.

He was airlifted to a north London hospital and is now in a stable condition, police officers said.

Police have suggested the victim had got into a dispute with another young man in Mount Pleasant Road, and was then attacked by a group, described as black, who stabbed, punched and kicked him.

He was able to escape and ran to safety in The Avenue.

Detective Constable Jane Fluckiger, of Haringey CID, said: "This incident took place at a time of day when people would have been traveling home or going out after work or school. If you saw this incident or have any information about it please call us, don’t rely on others to phone in, your information could be crucial and will be treated in confidence."

Officers are now examining CCTV footage to help establish the attackers.

No arrests have been made, any anyone with information is asked to contact DC Fluckiger on 020 8345 0712.

To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
