Woman dies after being hit by tube at Wood Green

A WOMAN has died after being hit by a train at Wood Green Underground Station this morning.

The woman, in her 50s, became trapped under the train and suffered multiple injuries including a fractured skull as well as broken arms and legs.

A statement from British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the tragic event.

It added: "The incident, which was reported to police at 9.25am, is being treated as non-suspicious."

The Piccadilly Line, which serves Wood Green, has now resumed a normal service after an hour-long suspension while emergency services attempted to rescue the woman.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
