POLICE hoping to curb burglaries in Tottenham Hale are offering residents free security surveys to make their homes feel safer.
The risk-assessment is just one of the measures the area's Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), led by Sergeant Paul Dowling, is using in response to the community's concerns.
Residents living in Shelbourne Road and Ferry Lane had expressed fears about being vulnerable to break-ins.
Sergeant Dowling said: "We have a number of actions and activities planned to tackle our burglary priority including offering security reviews to homes in Shelbourne Road and Ferry Lane.
"We will look at your windows and doors, check locks and make suggestions on how to lessen your risk of being a burglary victim. We also have a small quantity of locks and other security items to give out, free of charge. Please contact us if you want a crime prevention survey completed."
The team will also use Hermes, a portable device that records personal items and information onto the immobilise database, to create a private and secure portfolio of personal property.
If any items are stolen, the database can be used to tell law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, and second-hand goods traders to help find stolen property and catch thieves.
The Tottenham Hale SNT will also host drop-in surgeries and meetings on the issue.
