TODAY'S the day Tottenham residents dust off their summer sandals to party as a community.

The annual event, the biggest of its kind in north London, draws crowds of up to 40,000 people looking for summer fun including good food, music and dancing.

Hundreds of others watch the carnival parade which leaves Eade Road at 11am, before working its way through the heart of the area including Seven Sisters Road, and High Road, Tottenham.

It ends in Bruce Castle Park for an afternoon of festivity.

Headlining the carnival's stage this year are three members of pop group S Club 7 — Jo, Bradley and Paul, with a selection of their greatest hits.

The group shot to fame by starring in their own BBC television series, Miami 7, in 1999.

In the following five years, S Club 7 enjoyed a number of hit singles including Reach, Never Had A Dream Come True, and Don't Stop Moving.

Other highlights of this year's event include a colourful and vibrant two-mile procession packed with floats and dancers from countries across the globe who have migrated to Haringey — one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the UK.

Other dance and music performances will come from local primary schools, including the Risley Avenue Primary School Choir, Asaria Performing Arts, based in Crouch End, and youth dance group Up To Da Time who have become famous for their medleys of dancehall, old school rap and funky house.

The Leper-chauns, sponsored by Haringey Irish Cultural and Community Centre, promise to charm the audience with their quick feet and UK rapper Skepta will perform his new track on the youth stage on the same day.

And the fun promises to go even further than that with zones including youth, children, pensioners, Spurs Sports Foundation, and food.

The Food Zone will feature tasty cuisine from around the World, salsa lessons will be up for grabs in the Latin Zone, there will be games galore in the Kids' Zone, football fun in the Spurs Zone, and exciting rides from Mannings Fun Fair.
