MISSING marks and results have put a cloud over celebrations at a Hornsey secondary school where top pupils achieved strings of A and A*s.
Several students at Greig City Academy, in High Street, Hornsey, will have to wait for checks to be made before problems with maths and science before they learn their final awards in maths and science.
The school said it was "pursuing a number of administrative and clerical checks for both subjects with the examining boards" before it could confirm any results.
Academy principal Paul Sutton said: "There are occasional problems for schools with their exam results and we are unfortunate that it has happened to us this year.
"Traditionally marks in core subjects have been very close to each other. This year the results show major discrepancies in the marks for maths compared to other subjects. This casts doubt on the validity and accuracy of these grades. The school will not be issuing any overall figures until we are 100 per cent confident in the completeness and accuracy of the results."
Mr Sutton praised students for their hard work particularly the excellent individual performances from some outstanding pupils.
Top student Adewale Odushegun, the youngest of eight children, was thrilled to receive an A* in Maths, 11 A grades, one B grade but said the best feeling was outdoing his elder siblings.
In addition, to his 13 regular GCSEs, the top pupil also achieved an A* and an A in two GCSE short courses he took on as extra work.
Fellow pupil Mirela Ivanova, a budding rock star, also achieved a string of straight As in all her exams with A*s in music and Spanish.
Chelsea Udechukwu got 10 A grades and one A* at GCSE, with an additional A* in RE and Citizenship short courses.
Overall, the teenagers strong performance helped the school increase attainment of a top grade in core subject English for the fifth year running.
This year, 55 per cent of pupils got A*-C grade in compared with 52 per cent last year, despite more than half of the year group speaking English as an additional language.
A third of students taking ICT achieved an A* grade.
And in maths and science, 91 per cent of pupils achieved top passing grades.
