Healthier lifestyle for Tottenham promoted at community fair

TIPS for a healthier lifestyle will be offered at a community event in Tottenham this month.

It has been organised by Azuire Community Enterprises to help educate residents living in an area of extreme health inequalities on how to take better of themselves.

The Stay Well Holistic Fair 2010 will be held at Triangle Children, Young People and Community Centre, in St Ann's Road, on Saturday, September 18.

Azuire director Ngozi Obanye-Stephen said: "Many people in Tottenham have conditions including diabetes and heart disease and I think it's important people are reminded to take care of themselves including what they eat.

"I don't advocate throwing away the pills, but there are alternative treatments out there that can be beneficial so maybe people will come along and learn something new."

More than 20 stall holders will exhibit their wares at the free event offering advice, showcasing food methods and selling natural products.

Highlights include a raw food demonstration, information on alternative milks, organic clothing and natural body butters.

A special hour will be dedicated to women's health featuring a question and answer session with health experts.

Azuire aims to promote educational, economic and social development within African and Caribbean communities.

Event runs between 12pm and 5.30pm.

Azuire Community Enterprises is a community organisation for all. It isn't about race, creed, age, disability, etc. I am simply an African woman running an organisation.
