Haringey mayor's charity cricket match raises funds for Whittington Hospital

CELEBRITIES and sport stars have signed up for a fundraising cricket match organised by the mayor of Haringey.

The special event will take place at North Middlesex Cricket Ground, in Crouch End, to help raise funds for Councillor Eddie Griffith's charity – the Whittington Hospital’s Cardiovascular Community Fund.

The mayor's XI team will take on North Middlesex XI in a day of cricket, raffles, food and entertainment for young people on September 12.

Cllr Griffith, a former league cricket player himself, said: "We've organised a fantastic day and I'm looking forward to welcoming many local residents to the event.

"This is an opportunity for people to meet celebrities – including stars from Eastenders and the world of sport – to play or watch some cricket and to have a really good time. And it’s all for a fantastic cause.

"The Cardiac Unit at the Whittington does a fantastic job and it’s an honour to be able to support it during my mayoralty."

The day of fun runs from12pm to 6pm on Sunday.

Entrance is £5 for adults and free to children under 14.

All proceeds will go direct to the mayor's charity.

Residents who want to know more about the event can contact 07956 289918.

To donate to the mayor's charity, please make cheques payable to the Mayor's Special Fund and send to The Mayor's Parlour, Civic Centre, High Road, London N22 8LE.
