A WEST End star and Haringey resident has been reunited with her dog after the pooch went missing in Crouch End.

Legally Blonde star Sheridan Smith posted on her Twitter page on Monday evening: "My dog Enid has gone missing,I'm distraught."

She added: "If anyone sees her please get in touch."

After two sleepless nights, the black Shar Pei was found miles away in Dagenham, east London, and taken to Battersea Dogs Home.

Miss Smith, who rose to fame in sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, wrote: "I've got Enid back. I cannot thank you all enough for your help.

"The amazing staff at Battersea saw Twitter and heard Chris Moyles [radio show]. Without you I wouldn't have found her. She was found in Dagenham - I wish she could tell me how she got there."

She added: "Enid is safe and back at home and I am still crying but with joy now. I am so touched by the support and kindness of everyone. Thank you."

After the star reported her missing pet on Twitter, hundreds of users re-Tweeted the message to the extent it became one of the UK's top trending topics.

Former PM Gordon Brown's wife Sarah also got involved in spreading the word.
