A MAN who tried to sue Haringey Council after falsely claiming he tripped on a Muswell Hill pavement has been jailed.
Nathan Williams, 38, alleged he tripped and hurt his knee as he walked in Muswell Hill Road, in February 2008.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts of fraud and was sentenced to 15 months in prison for each offence, to run concurrently, and must serve a minimum of half.
Mr Williams, of Dean Street, west London, made compensation claims across eight local authorities, including Hackney, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets, over a 17-month period.
Injuries he claimed to have sustained included face, knee, foot and groin injuries.
Following an investigation, the Soho resident was charged with eight counts of fraud after insurance companies noted several claims from the same person.
Unemployed Williams appeared at Southwark Crown Court yesterday.
