A COURT which was the scene of a brawl between teenagers involving an axe is closed again today.

A group, described as black and around 15, wearing hoodies and beanie hats, chased two rivals into Highgate Magistrates Court after a row yesterday at 11.45am.

According to a witness, one of the pair, a 14-year-old boy, was hit in the head with a blunt, short-handled axe while his 15-year-old friend was “hacked” in the side.

A female PC was punched during the brawl but was treated and returned to duty, detectives say.

Forensics teams were down at the scene yesterday afternoon and the court entrance is still behind police tape today.

It is expected to reopen on Monday, the Ministry of Justice says.

Police confirmed they recovered a knife and an axe from the scene and arrested the two injured teenagers on suspicion of affray after they were discharged from separate hospitals yesterday.

The 14-year-old is also suspected of assaulting a police officer.

They have been bailed to return on a date in October.

Police are appealing for help tracking down the group who chased them and anyone with information can contact DS Stuart Robinson of Haringey CID on 0208 345 0838, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
