A SPURS legend is teaming up with Haringey politicians to launch a post-riots feel-good campaign to promote Tottenham today.

Gary Mabbutt, who was captain for 11 years at the club and played over 600 games before retiring in 1998, will launch the 'I Love Tottenham' campaign in High Road later this morning.

He will be joined by Tottenham MP David Lammy and Haringey Council's cabinet member for development Alan Strickland to promote the scheme, which is a joint project between Spurs, the council, and traders.

A peaceful prayer vigil for shot Tottenham man Mark Duggan on August 6 ended in a violent riot through the street, causing shops to be looted and buildings to be set on fire – leaving 54 families homeless.

Three days of looting and rioting followed in towns and cities across England, including in neighbouring boroughs Enfield and Hackney.

Tottenham team captain Michael Dawson, who is also backing the campaign, said: “Everyone at the club was shocked by what happened in Tottenham in August and we are all fully committed to helping the local community move forward by supporting the campaign.”

As part of the initiative, the club are offering free tickets to the Europa League match against Rubin Kazan on October 20 to emergency workers, traders, and council staff that were caught up in the violence, as well as employees from Enfield's Sony warehouse in Innova Way that was destroyed by fire two days later.
