CHILDREN at a Highgate school got tips from a prominent composer earlier this week as they prepare for their Christmas carol concert.

Pupils at St Michael's Primary School in North Road had a visit from New London Orchestra founder and Highgate Choral Society musical director Ronald Corp on Tuesday morning as they practised their singing.

For the first time, the school choir will take part in the society's annual Christmas concert on December 17 at St Michael's Church in South Grove.

Headteacher Amanda Szewczyk-Radley said the chance for the children to take part was “an amazing opportunity”.

She added: “What better way to encourage our young people to enjoy the process of singing and performing than to experience working with a professional conductor and adult choir?”

The children have also designed the publicity posters for this year's concert and the two winners were presented with framed posters by Mr Corp at the workshop on Tuesday.
