A MODEL who grew up in Tottenham has been picked as a finalist in a national competition.
Lisette Mibo will take the the catwalk at the Porchester Hall in central London on December 3 to vye for the title of Top Model of Colour 2011.
The 23-year-old, who was raised on the Broadwater Farm Estate, is hoping her success will be an inspiration to other young people from her home town.
She said: “I want to show that some of us are doing well and trying to be a success. It shows you can do it if you focus on what you want.”
Ms Mibo has dreams of pursuing a career in modeling, and is hoping the competition can be a springboard for her future prospects.
She said: “I want to break into the modeling world and being in this competition will increase my chances.
“I believe I have the talent and the passion, and have had since I was a teenager.”
She has already won through the heat stages of the competition, but believes even if she is not crowned the winner, she will have taken a lot from the experience.
She added: “A lot of it is about attitude, it's abut turning up on time, putting the work in, and not just about getting the crown.”
Ms Mibo, a former Hornsey School for Girls pupils who now lives in Redbridge, is up against 20 other finalists.
