A Tottenham teenager who was strangled to death in a Barkingside flat last Tuesday has been described as “a lovely bubbly girl”.
Cheryl Tariah, 17, of Dunloe Avenue, was found dead in a flat above the Buy Labels for Less shop in Barkingside High Street at around 4pm on Tuesday, February 7.
Staff at Chelmsford College, in Essex, were “shocked and upset” to hear about the art student’s death, it said in a statement.
The statement added: “Since her death, tributes from staff and students have been pouring in.
“Fellow students have described her as a lovely bubbly girl – well-liked by both her peers and the teaching staff.
“In her short time at the college her talent for fashion was abundantly clear. She wanted to be a brilliant fashion designer and, given the opportunity, she would undoubtedly have fulfilled her ambition.”
Ako Khalid, 18, of High Street, Barkingside, is due before Redbridge Magistrates’ Court today charged with her murder.
