If there's something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? George Michael, apparently.

The world-famous musician was outside his home in The Grove, Highgate, on Saturday night, to speak to two fans just as a team of North London Paranormal Investigators walked past in full ghost-busting attire and tried to enlist the singer's help.

The artist, whose debut album Faith has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, then saw the squad move towards Pond Square.

Paranormal investigators Micky Gocool, 46, and Louise Roche, 23, were dressed in black combats and hooded tops, as well as a police-style belt full of specialist gadgets to catch the ghosts in action.

Mr Gocool, who quit his former job as a chauffeur for boy band JLS to focus on his new vocation and his two young daughters, claims he and his partner were gathering more interest than the singer.

The pair, who have been together for a year, spent the day speaking to people in Highgate about how they can help them eliminate any spirits from their home.

Mr Gocool, from Lordship Lane in Wood Green, said: “I quite often see George Michael in Highgate, I have known him for what seems like a hundred years.

“He is a really nice guy, but I think he must have been surprised when more people were talking to us than him.”

The team, which comprises seven paranormal specialists, works together to seek restless spirits living all over north London, including private homes, graveyards and country estates.

The pair picked Pond Square because it is rumoured to host frequent unexplained activity, although they did not find anything out of the ordinary on Saturday.

The father-of-two has now set his sights on iconic London landmark Alexandra Palace, which he believes is home to a vast amount of ghosts and spirits.

He said: “We know people are having problems every day with paranormal activity, but if they want to understand what it is and want these spirits moved, we can help."

Mr Gocool describes himself as an investigator rather than a psychic, because the group discover supernatural evidence before allowing people to make up their own mind on what the findings show.

He said: “If you get an entity at your house and you call the police because you are frightened, they will think you are crazy, but we can do something about it.”
