Vote counting delayed by power failure

The counting of votes cast in yesterday’s election for the Mayor of London and London Assembly members has been delayed by a power failure.

Alexandra Palace in Haringey, where the count is taking place, suffered a power cut earlier this morning preventing the electonic counting of votes.

London Elects, which is organising the count, claim that the results will not be delayed significantly by the incident.

The 14 constituency London Assembly members will be announced by the relevant constituency returning officers when all the votes have been counted electronically.

Representatives will be announced at Alexandra Palace in Alexandra Palace Way later today.

The declaration of the 11 London-wide Assembly members and the Mayor of London will take place at City Hall later.
