Library session for tenants to learn about their rights

Private tenants can learn about their rights in an information session in Wood Green Library today.

Stalls at the library in High Road will run between 2pm and 4pm to teach people how to tackle issues including high rents and housing benefit.

All private tenants are welcome to attend the event, which is supported by campaign groups including Haringey Housing Action Group, Haringey Solidarity Group and The National Private Tenants Organisation.

There should be more of such sessions in due course to help more and more private tenants from the worsening situation they find themselves in. This is one of the areas where even existing laws appear to be flouted with impunity because those affected feel powerless not only for lack of information and advice, but above all active support against the formidable forces of what might become, under present circumstances, as bad as the Rachmanism of earlier times.
