Feast planned in primary school playground
4:10pm Friday 1st June 2012 in News By Hermione Wright
A free community lunch will go ahead in a Tottenham primary school on Sunday.
All are welcome to attend the picnic in the playground of Downhills Primary School in Philip Lane from 1pm to 4pm.
Tottenham Community Choir, who are organising the event, will entertain guests from 2pm.
Parent Lesley Moorse said: “This is the first time we have done a big lunch like this, and this year we wanted to give people an alternative to Jubilee celebrations.
“It has the same feeling though because it brings people together to share in free music and free food.”
Activities include wet sponge throwing, a raffle, and a chance for children to have their face painted.
People are invited to bring a plate of food to share, although it is not essential.
The feast is part of the annual Big Lunch, which is run by the Eden Project to encourage as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours to boost community feeling.
