More than 300 people are expected to toast the Queen’s Jubilee in a street party in Muswell Hill today.

The street party, between 12pm and 6pm, is the first in Grove Avenue since residents celebrated the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. Mother-of-three Karen Ackerman came up the idea and was encouraged by the amount of interest the party has sparked.

She said: “I have been truly amazed by the enthusiasm of everyone. This really is an impressive team effort.

"It’s been great to get to know so much more about the people living on my street, there is a real sense of community growing from this one event.”

People can enjoy activities including cake decorating, a tug of war, a barbeque, songs, kids activity area, a street football and a bouncy castle.
