Leaseholders fight once more to join forces with council housing service

HLA protest outside Wood Green Civic Centre last month
Members of a leaseholders association will meet with a council-led housing service today to battle for official recognition.
The Haringey Leaseholders Association (HLA) lost its recognition from Homes for Haringey (HfH)in 2010 after a breakdown in communications.
HLA has been fighting to restore its status ever since because without official recognition, the association misses out on communicating with all leaseholders in the borough as it does not appear on official documentation published by HfH.
The two groups met last month but HfH ruled HLA did not meet “requirements” so provided HFA a further opportunity to discuss “outstanding issues” before issuing accreditation.
HLA members held a small protest outside Haringey Civic Centre in High Road, Wood Green, on June 19, to help raise awareness of their cause.
