Families enjoy inflatable Stonehenge
An inflatable Stonehenge proved a hit with families in the grounds of Alexandra Palace park yesterday.
The inflatable piece of art, called Sacrilege, was enjoyed by families from across Haringey for one day as it made its way round the capital as part of the London 2012 Festival.
More than 4,000 people of all ages bounced on the sculpture in ten minute sessions from 10:30am to 6pm with Alexandra Palace in the background.
Vanessa Alves, who went on the giant sculpture with her son Zephyr, 5, said: “It’s absolutely brilliant and it’s great fun for everyone.”
Ruth Nicholls, 21, who went on the bouncy henge with her grandmother Fleur, said: It’s fantastic. How many people can say they’ve seen their own grandmother on the bouncy castle?
“It’s great that everyone is allowed to get on it and enjoy it. It really is something for everyone.”
The piece was designed by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and is travelling to 25 locations across the country as part of the London 2012 Festival and was also at the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art.
