Driver seeking casual workers fined as part of council operation
9:20am Tuesday 14th August 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
A man looking for cheap labour in Tottenham was fined and his vehicle seized as part of an operation by police and the council.
The operation took place outside a hardware store in south Tottenham where police and officers from Haringey Council stopped a number of vehicles wanted by county courts for unpaid fines and for being unauthorised waste carriers.
Officers issued a fixed penalty notice to one driver who had offered a Bulgarian man, standing outside Wickes, in Seven Sisters Road, £50 for a day’s work.
Police issued a fixed penalty notice to the man because his vehicle was not insured for business purposes and it was then seized by police.
During the joint operation last week a further 16 fixed penalty notices were issued by the council and the police seized two more vehicles.
