A new multipurpose sports facility was opened with an exhibition game from a paralympic seven-a-side football team.

The new Cruyff Court and multi-use games area (MUGA) was official opened on Tuesday with the help of former Spurs captain Leadley King.

Members of the Dutch Paralympic seven-a-side team played on the court to mark the opening which included basketball demonstrations and football workshops run by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

Mr King said: “It’s a great facility. I can only wish there were more things like this available to me when I was a young person growing up in inner city London.

“Hopefully we can find the budding sports people of the future making use of this facility.”

The new court was paid for by the Johan Cruyff Foundation, the People’s Postcode Lottery and Haringey Council and included basketball and tennis courts and the Cruyff Court for football.

The Cruyff Court is just the second in London and one of 162 worldwide.
