91-year-old in hospital after Highgate mugging
12:56pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
A 91-year-old woman is in hospital after being robbed and pushed to the floor in Highgate.
Police are calling for help to identify a man they would like to talk to in connection with the robbery and have released CCTV images.
The woman was walking in Church Road at just after 1:30pm on Tuesday August 14 after visiting the shops when a man tried to grab her bag and pushed her to the floor banging her head.
The man ran off with the woman’s purse containing her bank card, travel pass and £20 in cash.
The woman suffered a broken arm and severe bruising and swelling to her face, neck, shoulder and leg.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and was later discharged but was later readmitted for surgery following concerns about her head injury.
She is in hospital in a stable condition.
Police are calling on anyone who recognises the man or has any information about the incident to get in contact.
