Muswell Hill author Sian Busby, wife of Robert Peston, dies

Muswell Hill author Sian Busby, wife of news reporter Robert Peston, has died after a five year battle with lung cancer.

The 51-year-old was famous for her novels McNaughten, a historical thriller set in the Victorian period, and Cruel Mother about post-natal depression and infanticide.

A note on Robert Peston’s BBC blog said:"It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Robert Peston's beloved wife Sian Busby has passed away after a long illness. Our thoughts are with him and his family at this tragic time.

"Robert will take a short leave of absence from the BBC to return at a later date. We ask that you respect his and his family's privacy at this difficult time."

The two had known each other since they were young when Ms Busby was friends with Mr Peston's sister Juliet.

The two married in 1998 and have a teenage son Max. Ms Busby also had a son from her first marriage called Simon.
