A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery which left a 91-year-old woman in hospital.
Following an appeal from police a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery in Church Road, Highgate, just after 1.30pm on Tuesday, August 14.
A woman was walking home after visiting the shops when a man tried to grab her bag and pushed her to the floor banging her head.
The man ran off with the woman’s purse containing her bank card, travel pass and £20 in cash.
The grandmother suffered a broken arm and severe bruising and swelling to her face, neck, shoulder and leg.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and was discharged but was later readmitted for emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her head.
The woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.
