Tottenham gears up for Big Weekend

Tottenham is getting revved up for a jam-packed weekend of films, fairs, and festivities.

Haringey Council is organising its inaugural BIG Weekend as part of its 12 in 2012 pledges – a series of promises made this year to deliver new activities and improvements to the area.

Celebrations will kick off on Friday, September 28, with Project Tottenham, a three-day film showcase run in collaboration with media agency Film London.

The cinematic project which will feature screenings of films shot in Haringey, and various productions from local groups.

The first ever Medley Market, which will host a variety of stalls by local businesses and residents, will also be launched on Saturday.

Councillor Alan Strickland, cabinet member for economic development and social inclusion, promises the weekend will be “truly unique and exciting”.

“This is a chance for local people to celebrate their neighbourhood, and for visitors to discover the very best that Tottenham has to offer.”
