Tottenham Hale community group gets support from investment company
A community group will receive long term support from a property investment company after staff helped clear an allotment site.
LaSalle Investment Management is in charge of the development and expansion of the White Hart Works Industrial estate, in White Hart Lane, Tottenham.
The company will be supporting group Living Under One Sun, (LUOS) which uses neglected land in and around Tottenham Hale to grow food, set up beehives, and build a sense of community.
Sixteen staff from LaSalle and members of LUOS cleared an allotment area in Tottenham Hale which can now be used for planting in the autumn.
Leyla Laksari from LUOS, said: “From 9am to 6pm, LaSalle did not just put their muscles into digging and weeding, they gave their hearts to it.
“This much needed hard work was done to prepare the ground for the next growing and training season.
“They understand that LUOS was not just about growing food but growing communities that take responsibility and pleasure in making their neighbourhood healthy and productive for all.”
Following the day’s work in September LaSalle and LUOS plan to be working together on a number of other projects for the Tottenham area.
LUOS was founded in 2005 by a group of mothers in Northumberland Park and helps train volunteers as community leaders.
