Young performers were awarded at a ceremony for their hard work at their drama school.

Young people aged between 11 and 25 were given the prizes at the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards on Friday last week.

Winners received a medal, certificate and a cheque for £200 for their hard work in school or in the community.

Silas Parker, 14, won an award for his involvement with the New London Performing Arts centre, in Muswell Hill, and his role in a number of performances at the centre.

Mr Parker’s cash award was used to paint the entrance to the centre with a yellow brick road theme.

The achievement awards were organised by the Jack Petchey Foundation which recognises young people and their positive contribution to their community.

The 62 winners from across the capital were nominated for the awards by their teachers, peers and members of the community.
