Survey into Haringey Council waste policy launched
1:38pm Thursday 4th October 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
An online survey examining the impact the waste policy in the borough has been launched .
The survey has been organised by the environment and housing scrutiny panel at Haringey Council which is currently investigating the new waste and recycling service.
The new service was introduced this year with a number of changes including fortnightly collections of residual waste and the introduction of weekly collections of recycling.
The panel are looking to gage the impact of the new waste policy and the introduction of new wheelie bins around the borough.
It is also looking to increase the rate of recycling which is one of the key aims of the new waste policy as well as saving the council £900,000 a year.
The changes received criticism from Lib Dem councillors who said changes would turn the borough into a wasteland as bins would overflow with household waste.
People can complete the waste and recycling survey by visiting the Haringey Council website or they can email their response to scrutiny@haringey.gov.uk by October 26.
