Waste policy to be introduced in remaining parts of the borough
5:21pm Thursday 4th October 2012 in News By Bruce Thain
Fortnightly rubbish collections as part of new waste policy will begin in the east of the borough this month.
The service which has been introduced from Muswell Hill to Tottenham Green will be introduced in its third and final phase on October 22.
The final areas to come under Haringey Council’s new waste policy will be from Seven Sisters up through the whole of Tottenham.
The policy was met with criticism from opposition councillors and a number of people who say the changes have not helped and turn the borough into a wasteland.
Letters have been to sent to every household in the area explaining to people the changes to the new collections.
Collections of household waste will be made every two weeks and collections of recycling will be every week.
The council hopes to save £900,000 a year and aims to increase the amount of recycling throughout the borough to 40 per cent by 2015.
