Shock at murder at shopping centre murder
Managers and shoppers are shocked by the murder of a man in a fast food restaurant last night.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was stabbed in Burger King in Wood Green Shopping Centre, in High Road.
Half the shopping centre has been closed as police forensic teams examine the area.
Shopper Barbara Clarke, 73, said: “I’m just shocked to be honest. It’s so sad for something like that to happen.
“I have to say I’m not surprised it’s happened. There is a lot of crime in Wood Green and when I come here I don’t feel very safe.”
Michael Rose manager of the sweet shop Bon Bon in the centre said: “I didn’t know anything had happened until I arrived this morning. It’s very sad and upsetting.”
Serkan Ozcelik, 26, manager of N22 menswear said: “To have it actually happen in the shopping centre is quite shocking. Things have happened around here before but not in here.”
Outside the centre a group of people who knew the young man gathered paying their respects to their friend who was murdered.
Police say the victim’s next of kin have been informed but are awaiting formal identification. He has not been named.
No arrests have been made and officers are calling on anyone who may have information about the stabbing to get in contact.
