Mental Health Trust receives funding to develop psychological therapies

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust has received £150,000 funding to develop its psychological therapies for people with severe mental illness.

The Department of Health chose the trust’s Personality Disorder Service to be one of three demonstration sites to help promote good practice and the profile of the service as well as provide data for evaluation.

The funding aims to provide improved access to psychological therapies to a wider range of people, including those with a severe mental illness.

Dr Suchi Bhandari, clinical director for severe and complex non-psychotic services at the trust, said: “This will help standardise the quality of care.

"The money will be targeting treatment, looking at other services across the country as well as training for supervisors and managers to improve the quality of care for people with personality disorders.

“This is a great achievement for the trust and will benefit our patients and others across the country.”

The service is based at the Halliwick Centre at St Ann's Hospital in St Ann's Road, Tottenham.
