New chief executive to be appointed by Haringey Council this evening

Haringey Council’s new chief executive will officially be appointed this evening.

At a meeting of the full council, councillors are expected to appoint Nick Walkley to the position which he previously held at Barnet Council.

Mr Walkley resigned from his role in Barnet two weeks ago where he was instrumental in the privatisation of key council services.

Last week a petition was launched against his appointment calling on councillors to oppose the decision and any plans for mass outsourcing of council services.

The meeting will take place at Haringey Civic Centre, in High Road Wood Green at 6pm.
