Flats in Tottenham have been left without any hot water for the second time this year.

People living in St Paul's House, in Park Lane, say they have had no hot water since September after the communal heating was switched on.

This is not the first time there have been problems with the hot water in the block of 39 flats, operated by Metropolitan Housing.

In February this year the Haringey Independent reported how building had not had any hot water for the whole of last winter and finally had it switched on again in March.

Meliza Sukhdeo who lives her baby and her 78-year-old grandmother Winifred in one of the flats, said: “It’s just ridiculous really. They knew about the problem earlier this year and they should have sorted it out during the summer when the communal heating was turned off.

“We all pay maintenance fees and Metropolitan should have sorted it.

“I think a lot of the people here have had enough. All of us are worried about another winter with no hot water and we shouldn’t have to deal with this.

“We’ve told them time and time again but we just don’t feel we’re being listened to.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan said: “We are very sorry residents are experiencing further problems with the hot water at St. Paul’s.

“Contractors have been out to assess the problem and they identified that major lime scale build up within the system has caused a reduced amount of hot water to be available to residents.

“We acknowledge this is a difficult time for our residents at St. Paul’s and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

They added the work has been passed to a specialist contractor to be carried out within the next few days with hot water fully working by next week.
